When we were children my Godmother sent us one each year, it was a simple one with a different picture every day. No chocolate then!
Now my son has the Lego advent calendar and a chocolate one, plus one at his Grandparents' house. I have my Little Stitcher Advent Tree and my online calendar too (of course!)Jo who can't think of a clever nicknamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02663450738390351663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7444846776231134023.post-77574334888684632032015-12-20T19:54:38.973+01:002015-12-20T19:54:38.973+01:00My mother used to have Advent calendars for my bro...My mother used to have Advent calendars for my brother and I and we would take turns opening each day to get the chocolates! I was able to visit him last Christmas and spend a couple of weeks with his host family and friends, and traveling around a bit. It was wonderful! We both want to go back as soon as we can.

Christmas was beautiful there. And the Weinachtsmarkt were magical!

One of the things my son especially liked was all of your bakeries - he worked for a week at one, and he misses all of the breads and treats he could always find at the little bakeries wherever he went. ☺

I look forward to learning more about your country and traditionsee through your blog!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04932241327066036410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7444846776231134023.post-12719360500435814982015-12-13T20:39:13.599+01:002015-12-13T20:39:13.599+01:00We never really did advent calendars because we wo...We never really did advent calendars because we would usually forget but I love the idea lolHeatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07187502290685197741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7444846776231134023.post-63128722547862871932015-12-13T19:21:39.316+01:002015-12-13T19:21:39.316+01:00We did both the calendar and the wreath when I was...We did both the calendar and the wreath when I was growing up. We used the same calendar every year (we bought it while living in Munich) and my sister always got the even numbers because her birthday is December 6th (so NOT what I wanted St. Nick to bring me!!). I still put one in DSon's Christmas box and love hunting for just the right one - I am a little less picky about mine. :-) I don't have many memories of our time in Germany (I was 5 when we moved) but I DO remember going downtown during Christmas (and Easter) and the displays at the bakers, candy store and toy store.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13370771698452520645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7444846776231134023.post-42312062124138474282015-12-13T18:23:42.359+01:002015-12-13T18:23:42.359+01:00Advent calendars were a lot of fun when I was youn...Advent calendars were a lot of fun when I was younger and we're starting the tradition with DD this year. I also remember the Advent wreath at church and once got to light a candle when I was a server. :) Great description and sounds like you have an excellent Grandma.
